For the last 5 years and 8 months, my husband has been raising my son. They met each other when Ace was only 7 months old and immediately fell in love! 

Ace has not seen his sperm donor in almost 2 years and he has been begging us to change his last name to our last name. Unfortunately, since the adoption is not being consented to by sperm donor, it’s going to be a little costly to make this happen! In the state of Ohio - step parent adoption can only happen without consent if the bio parent has either 1. Provided no financial support for at least one year, OR 2. No personal contact in at least one year. 

As part of our adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $35,000 or more. This is why we have set a goal of just $5,000 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents.
