Our homestudy has been approved as of last week!!! Now, we start the next step of the process. I mailed our I-800A to USCIS today. While we wait for USCIS’s approval, they will send us a notice to go get our fingerprints done at a USCIS office. I’m hoping we can just go to El Paso because there is an office there, but we will find out soon. The cost for this is $775, plus $85 each for our fingerprints. The turnaround time for this is 6-8 weeks.

Meanwhile, we will continue working on the paperwork for our dossier to be submitted to Colombia. The documents for this must be notarized, county certified, and apostilled. It’s A LOT of paperwork! I’m not sure of the cost to apostille each document. Then some of my documents have to be mailed to Austin to be apostilled by Texas. We owe $8,650.00 to be able to submit our dossier to Colombia. If everything goes smoothly, we will be submitting our dossier to Colombia in October.

We have a 500 piece puzzle that we would like to put together - with your help! Each donation of $25 will sponsor one puzzle piece. For every piece sponsored, we will write the donor’s name on the back of the piece. (Ex. $25 donation=1 puzzle piece, $50 donation=2 puzzle pieces)

Once completed, the puzzle will be framed in between glass so you can see both sides and when our child is older we will be able to show her all of the people that loved her so much before they even knew her. We will post updated pictures of the progress of our puzzle, as well as updated details of our adoption journey.
