Next step….Colombia!

For those of you who know me well, know that I hate writing and sharing my feelings, so this is NOT easy for me. This will be a new experience writing & posting about our lives online, lol. Needless to say, my blog posts will be short & quick to read! We want to keep everyone updated on each milestone we reach in our international adoption journey, so you will know how to continue to pray for us.

We finalized a big decision this week. After a lot of prayer and research, God has led us to the country of Colombia. We had read and heard many good things (online and personal friends) about Madison Adoption Associates (MAA) and have chosen to go with them. We have been in communication with their program director for the Colombia program and really like her. We have also joined a Facebook group for people adopting from Colombia and have been learning a lot through it too.  

We have filed our application with Madison Adoption Associates along with the $500 application fee this week. Next step will be to sign the contract and pay around $3,500, which is required at the signing of the contract with the adoption agency. About the same time, the home study process will start with a third-party agency from New Mexico, which I’m estimating around $6,000 plus a psychiatric evaluation we will need to do in process that is around $2,000 each. The home study process usually takes around 6 months to complete.

Buy a puzzle piece: We are hoping our friends and family will help complete a puzzle for our future daughter’s room. We have a 500 piece puzzle that we would like to put together - with your help! Each donation of $25 will sponsor one puzzle piece. For every piece sponsored, we will write the donor’s name on the back of the piece. (Ex. $25 donation=1 puzzle piece, $50 donation=2 puzzle pieces)

Once completed, the puzzle will be framed in between glass so you can see both sides and when our child is older we will be able to show her all of the people that loved her so much before they even knew her.
