As a middle school teacher of low income students, I see the effect that a broken family has on children.  Too many children grow up in unstable households, and my heart goes out to those kids. I would love to share the opportunities given to me with those whose future may not seem as bright.

As I lived my final two high school years at Eagle Ranch (a children’s home for broken families), while my father and mother served as houseparents, I witnessed the significant impact a stable home can have on a child, if only for a short time.  I want to give a less fortunate child my heart and my home and surround them with love, so that they may grow up surrounded by a loving family that will provide them the opportunity to grow into the person they are meant to be.

Family is everything.  Jarrod and I are two of the luckiest souls on the planet to have been born into families such as ours.  Every child is equally deserving of that experience. As a public defender, I witnessed the impact that lack of familial structure can have on the human spirit.  It's heartbreaking, and the effects are devastating. No one is deserving of such a fate. I feel so lucky to have found Jarrod, a partner who feels equally compelled to devote our energy and resources towards shielding a child from that kind of fate.
