About this Fundraiser

Who am I?

My name is Samuel Gray, and I reside in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Aside from being a working fine artist, I enjoy spending time with people in my community and sharing their stories.

Why am I here?

I am raising funds to travel to Kampala. I need help with travel expenses and art supplies. I plan on giving my gift to those in Uganda but need help getting there.

I am going with a team from Forgottensong. Their mission is to empower the victims of war-torn societies through self-sustainable and reproducible projects & business initiatives.

One of the places I will be visiting is Blessed Hope Orphanage. Blessed Hope is in the process of expanding their structure and will be focusing on combining education and sustainability. Another place that I will be visiting is the Jinja Hub Farm which is a poultry farm. I will try to find out how I can either make murals and partner with local artists to create art as an educational tool. Empowerment and Multiplication!

When and Where?

May 12-21st. Kampala, Uganda. From there I will be traveling around the Kampala area.

How can you be involved?

If you (donate) $20 or more, you will receive a (free) signed 5x5" archival art print from the choices below. If you (donate) $50 or more, you will receive a (free) limited printed T-shirt from your choice of design. If you (donate) $100 or more you will receive a choice of a (free) print and T-shirt! If you (donate) $300 or more you will receive all three prints and all three T-shirt options (as a thank you)!

All funds will go directly to Forgotten Song and are tax deductible.

Put your choices of prints in comments with your contact information.

**NEW PRINT/SHIRT OPTION!**

@jasonmpeterson is one of my amazingly talented instagram friends and we collaborated on this new print/shirt option!

Shane Claiborne said something similar to this, "Artists have generally been undervalued in mission and even more so in community development. Yet poets, storytellers, writers and painters have historically played an essential role in activism communication of our heart for the marginalized. We were made creative, and by allowing our senses, our imaginations, our minds and bodies to fulfill their given potential for creativity, we glorify our Creator. I believe we are expected to use these gifts for something greater than ourselves. I want my work to be informed by my experience. Not what I read or picture I saw online. So, in order to speak with credibility and insight on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves, and if I am called to communicate our heart for the marginalized in this region I must first learn the joys and struggles of the marginalized by being among them." I try to do this in my daily life, but an opportunity has come to take a trip and make lots of art!
