P - 1 class at Ambassadors of Hope Nursery and Primary School in Luwero, Uganda
Leah is a ten year old girl from a ‘street family’ of eight children, where she is the second born.
Due to dire poverty, Leah’s parents could not afford to take Leah and her siblings to school, and hardly could they afford one meal a day.
During a street outreach, our field team sited Leah and her sister Margret working on the streets of Kampala during school time. She was blacksmithing with her parents, who make pans and locks for sale. Given the work environment, Leah was exposed to risks of life-threatening injuries and health complications from hazardous child labor. This led to the rescue of Leah and Margaret.
Through our sponsorship program, Leah is able to attain an education and she is currently in Primary one. Her favorite subject is English and she loves reading Bible stories.
