Empower change agents to protect children in Benin
The central Collines region of Benin is a center of agricultural production that is affected heavily by child trafficking. Dagbé will conduct an anti-trafficking training seminar to empower 45 men and women to be able to combat trafficking.

According to a 2006 study by the Ministry of the Family in Benin, aided by UNICEF, about 40,000 children are trafficked every year in a country with a population of only 8 million. The central Collines region of Benin, a farming and agricultural center, is a haven for child trafficking. Child labor is far too common and many children are taken from their families and forced to work long hours in the fields.
Dagbé is an organization that provides direct care to children in crisis situations in central Benin. This includes victims of child trafficking, who are provided lodging at Dagbé's facilities. Dagbé works to resolve cases of trafficking with the assistance of local law enforcement officials as well as representatives from the country's Ministry of the Family.
Beyond helping the victims of trafficking, Dagbé is taking steps to prevent child trafficking by raising awareness and training change agents in the region, providing them with the tools to identify cases of trafficking and bring about a resolution. A training seminar in 2012 was held for 45 participants and reached over 15,000 listeners over local radio. Dagbé will conduct another training seminar in 2013, expanding its reach and mobilizing more people to protect these children in Benin.
