Thank you so much for your support in getting me to Belfast. It has been nearly four weeks since we left Portland. On Tuesday, May 17th, I got in a van and drove up to Vancouver, BC with 12 other students, plus Weston and Jenny Brock. We flew straight to London, where we stayed for two days to do a little sightseeing. Our time there flew by and we headed to Hastings, on the southern coast of England. Five of my classmates are still there serving at a small church. On May 24th, my team flew to Belfast with Weston and Jenny while the rest of the students went to Glasgow, Scotland to serve at another church there.
I’m in love with the city of Belfast. I’m surprised how similar it feels to Portland. We’re surrounded by small coffee shops and artisan restaurants. Weston and Jenny were a huge help getting us settled into a rhythm here, but had to fly home last week. Thank you two so much for joining us!
For the past few weeks, we’ve been meeting with leaders from churches and non profit organizations all around the city, seeing what God is up to. We’ve been trying to make as many connections as possible, sharing with people what we’re doing here.
Josh and Ruth Binstead arrived with their son Reuben last week. We’ve been getting to know them and working together. Josh is the head pastor of the Re:Hope Belfast church plant we are serving with. We have started renovating the parlor room and cafe at May Street Church, who are generously sharing their space with us. We are hosting an interest meeting this Monday, and plan to begin gathering regularly on Wednesday evenings.
Please continue to pray for our team and the people of Belfast. Thank you all so much.
