Craig & Alaina Anderson's Adoption

GREAT NEWS! We've decided to adopt a child! We're so excited to give a child an opportunity to grow up in our home and teach him or her the best th...
Craig and I thought about trying to grow our family a couple years ago. We were fairly naive thinking we would go about it through natural biological processes. When that didn't seem to be God's plan for us, I prayed that whatever the issue is that it would be clear whether we should ensue with minor medical intervention or work towards adoption. My prayer was answered. It turns out that I have low ovarian reserve (very few eggs) and the only option from the fertility specialist was egg donation. This seemed too unnatural to Craig and I, especially considering there are children out there who are in need of parents. We didn't think we needed to force ourselves to give birth to our own children, we just figured this was God's way of leading us to his plan. So it's probably been about two years since then and over the last year we've increased our focus and our momentum. We are pursuing a domestic infant adoption. We found that through international adoption children aren't brought home until around at least 1 year of age and for our first child we wanted the whole experience. Our agency has also educated us on open adoptions and we are now much more comfortable entering into a continuing relationship with the birthparents. It's definitely an exciting time for us and we're so glad you are interested in sharing it with us.
