One week ago I was lucky enough to attend the ultrasound and OB appointment for our birth mom. Baby girl was measuring at 5lb 13 oz. We were able to chat for a few hours and it's weird after so many months chatting through Facebook and texts that conversation was so easy.  She has later referred to us as friends/family.  When we first started this journey, like many others, we were very apprehensive about doing an open adoption.  We like our privacy and were afraid that all birthmoms would want to be way more involved in the childs life.  However, we had to keep those thoughts tucked away and just see what the future would hold for us.  We met our birthmom in person in June and over the months we have grown into a friendship and we talk multiple times a week.  Never did I think blending these families would lead to such a good relationship.  I hope once the baby is born that this can continue.  I do have a tendency to put others first and I'll need to find that balance with a baby in the house.  Merle and I have been talking about what aspects of our life will change here shortly, mostly his video games and our sleep, lol.  We've been preparing ourselves for the last 7 years for a child to enter our family and we cannot wait.  Baby ISLA ANNE we are ready for you, only 16 days and counting!
