Our first two days as a family have been lots of fun! The children are loving every minute together! On Saturday, Angelica was awake by 9:30 a.m. so after breakfast we celebrated Christmas as a complete family! The children had each bought and wrapped presents for their new sister and the presents have been waiting for her under the tree since before Christmas. After Angelica opened her gifts from her siblings, she helped me unpack and put the gifts we bought for the family in bags. She loved getting to give the gifts to her siblings. Everyone was most excited about the games we had bought and have played three out of the four already. The other items the children loved were the different types of Ukrainian candy and gum that Angelica had chosen for them. They each got to reach inside a bag Angelica was holding and choose out one piece of candy at a time, until they each had one piece of each kind. Once Levi got a lollipop, Caleb felt around in the bag until he got a lollipop! After lunch we all got in our swimsuits and drove to the Family Fun Plex to enjoy time at the swimming pool and "aqua park" as Angelica calls it. God was so generous in giving us a free 3 month membership to our family. Back in March we won the membership through a drawing and life was so busy with adoption paperwork and fundraising we decided to wait to start it until the latest possible time. The membership had to be started by December 31, 2016 so that was the date Jason went in to activate it. We will be enjoying the membership to its fullest for 2 and a half more months! Angelica loved swimming in the large pool and the wave pool and she especially liked going down the big slides. The children each enjoyed different time in the water with their sister. Once we got home, I started the oven to do an easy meal of chicken nuggets. Right after putting the nuggets in the oven I started feeling terribly ill. My stomach had started hurting while swimming and my headache had gotten worse but I just thought it was lack of sleep and jet lag. I told Jason what to do for the rest of dinner and I told everyone I had to go lay down. I laid down for a few minutes and then got physically sick. I spent most of the night in the bathroom. Jason said that Angelica went to bed right after dinner because she was so tired. I slept most of today trying to get over the flu. Jason said the children had a great day. They spent time playing games, playing Barbies, coloring, painting, creating a video trailer on the iPad, and watching Teen Titans. Angelica enjoyed one last FaceTime with two of her friends from the orphanage. The one was her roommate and the other is the roommate's sister whom was also Angelica's good friend. The girls were on their way to the airport to fly back to Ukraine. Angelica introduced her siblings to them and showed them her room, her clothes, and our pantry of food. She told them about the gifts her siblings gave her and about swimming yesterday. I am glad she got to say a final goodbye. We have been praying for the girls and for their host family all day as we know how hard it can be when hosting is over. Please pray that by tomorrow I will be back to feeling better and that no one else will get sick. Continue to pray for special memories and cherished time together as we all grow closer as a family.
