"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." (Psalm 107:1) Angelica's passport arrived in her birth city of Ukraine today! I have seen two pictures of it so I know it is really here. It is on the overnight train to Kiev as I type. We will get it Thursday morning, tomorrow:) and go for our second appointment at the US Embassy. Our prayer is that she will be issued her visa tomorrow so we can fly home on Friday. I have booked tickets for us through adoptionairfare.com to leave Kiev early Friday morning and arrive home Friday afternoon after flying over 13 hours and having a 5 hour layover in Germany. (Ukraine is 9 hours ahead of Colorado time.) I can cancel the tickets without a penalty if we do not get her visa tomorrow but we are trusting God to take care of those details. God provided very nice tickets especially for booking so close to departure. Today we had an appointment for Angelica to go to the dentist here in Kiev. The female dentist is a relative of Andriy, whom we are staying with. After having the appointment delayed two times, it was finally Angelica's turn. We had walked around a nearby mall for awhile to pass the time since she was not too thrilled about going to the dentist. The dentist saw three cavities which she filled and they did a fluoride treatment on all her teeth. The entire bill was less than $55 which is much less than it would have been for us back home even with dental insurance. I am so thankful that Andriy suggested we get the dental work done here. I was very impressed with the care and quality of work. I think it was also good for Angelica to have things explained to her in her own language. After the dental work we drove to another mall which was more of an open market mall with escalators that had no steps, they were just moving ramps. We walked a round a little to find a place to eat. We ate at Mister Twister, a somewhat fancy, family restaurant. Since I got the phone call during the dental appointment letting us know the passport arrived, we made our dinner a celebration dinner. Angelica had soup and potato varenyky and I had soup and what looked like and tasted like a sopapilla with lamb meat, cheese, and onions inside. It was very tasty! Right after dinner we drove to the dolphin aquarium. We first walked around the small terrarium. Angelica liked looking at the snakes the most. Then we went to the dolphin show. The first act was the sea lion and then the 4 dolphins showed their talents. I was most impressed with the show. Angelica loved how high the dolphins could jump out of the water! After the fun show, Andriy brought us back to his apartment so I could finish the online application for the visa, filing in passport information. We FaceTimed our family to tell them the good news about the passport. FaceTime has been great but as our children at home said tonight, "we want to give her hugs"! We are all ready to be together as a family! Angelica also FaceTimed her friends. It was the last time she will see her one friend who is leaving on Friday to fly back to Ukraine. This was a sad goodbye that Angelica handled well. Please continue to pray for the orphans and the host families. Tuesday night I started to pack and since we gave one large suitcase away I am not sure how we are going to fit everything. I will tackle that problem tomorrow after we get Angelica's visa.
