We woke up yesterday morning to lovely white snow. It continued snowing a little more in the morning so the trees were just beautiful. I also woke up with a sore throat and a cold. Please pray that Jason will stay healthy and that I will get over this quickly without getting sicker. There have been many children coughing and none of them cover their coughs so I am not surprised I got germs. The fever came last night but I kept praying for God to heal me and this morning the fever was gone! Praise the Lord! We have enjoyed our cold walk to the orphanage each day and enjoyed our time with our girl even more! Yesterday she took us exploring around the campus in search of a dog and cat that she wanted us to see. We never found the dog or cat but had fun tracking the foot prints into the wooded area before getting to the fence. She also showed us their ice skating rink which is an area of tiles that become sheet ice in this wet, cold weather. Children were having fun "ice skating" down a hill; the same hill I was thankful to get down without falling! Today we enjoyed getting a tour of the school and watching children practice for a holiday performance. After the practice we laughed a lot as we watched an assembly that was a game show. The most fun for us was seeing our girl get into the group dancing! Last night we got our court date of December 15. After getting off the phone with our coordinator/translator I cried thinking about having to wait over 2 more weeks. We were having dinner with our new friends, the woman visiting her host children, her friend, their translator, and the lawyer for the orphanage. The lawyer said he would try to see if the judge could move up the court date but unfortunately that was not a possibility. Our coordinator told us that if there is a cancellation of a criminal case prior to our date, we might get that date so she recommended we stay in Ukraine until court. Last night we were ready to get on a train today to go back to Kiev and then fly home tomorrow. We miss our children so much and they miss us. It is hard to be here waiting while only being able to spend a short time each day with our girl. We would appreciate continued prayer for God's perfect timing. We praise Him for providing this other Christian translator. God has provided for us in so many ways, some we did not even know we needed until after He provided! We praise our Lord for all He has done in this adoption process so far. We know God is in all the details and we thank Him for how He has given us great support even from total strangers. Please also pray that God will provide so we can fly home after court (during the 10 day wait period to validate the adoption). We would like to celebrate Christmas with our children back home since we will most likely not be able to bring our new daughter home until the new year. It has been a long 2+ weeks for our children and for us to be separated and the holidays are making it even harder. Isaiah 26:3 "He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You." (This was great encouragement from a dear friend this morning!)
