About this Fundraiser

This site is remaining open for the purpose of posting updates and sharing praises and prayer requests. We arrived home with our new daughter on January 13, 2017 and are no longer asking for fundraising. Thank you for past financial support and most importantly for prayer support.

                                                         Update: April 1st, 2016

Colossians 1:9-12 says “Since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience and joyfully giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.”

It seemed fitting to start with scripture since God is the author of all life and He is the ultimate caregiver of every child, especially orphans. God has had His reasons for bringing His “pure” gift (read above to understand what that means) into our lives. We have prayed for her since the day we saw her picture and we will continue praying for her. God created her just like He created each of us and we pray that she will choose His promise of eternal life. He is her heavenly Father who is waiting for her to choose Him. In January she told us that she changed her mind about being adopted. God worked it out for us to re-host her for Christmas so we could be a complete family during the holidays. Little did we know that she had already come up with a new decision to “age out” and have a life on her own with her boyfriend once she turns 16 in the summer. All we can do is pray and ask God to protect her and wrap His arms of love around her.

Our family was left wondering what God had in store for us. After pausing this fundraiser page to grieve our loss and spend time in prayer, we feel that now we should unpause to see how God is going to work. We are seeking God and asking for clear direction on how to proceed with adoption of another child. We would ask that you please partner with us in prayer for clarity. There are over 153 million orphans in the world. We feel that God has already chosen who He wants for our family. We just need to be faithful servants and follow Him in obedience. He has been teaching us to “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10) He is God and He makes no mistakes. He will accomplish His will for our life and for a child of His who needs a forever family. He will be exalted through all He does in this adoption! We will try to do a better job of posting updates along the way as God reveals His plan.

Thank you for your prayers! If you have not already read our initial story, please read below to learn more about how our adoption journey began. You may notice that we changed the amount we need to still raise to reflect donations made to our adoption agency, the money raised through various fundraisers, and tax return money we received. We had needed $36,000 but that amount has gone down significantly. We are so thankful for God's provision thus far! We trust He will continue to provide.

                            ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to our adoption adventure! We are so glad you have come to learn more about this incredible desire God has placed on our hearts. The Lord has been preparing us for years even though we did not know what He was doing. God has already blessed us with four wonderful biological children however we feel our family is not complete yet.

We decided in October 2014 that we should open up our home to an orphan by hosting through Project 143. We started the process and ran into road blocks to host from Latvia yet God opened the doors wide to host from Ukraine. We chose our host daughter through much prayer as we looked at pictures. One evening God told Christy to look up the meaning of each girl’s name who we were considering to host. That night Christy knew who God wanted to bring into our family. Her name meant “pure” and Christy felt sure that special young lady was God’s pure gift. (We are not allowed to share her name on the internet for her safety.) After hosting her for four weeks at Christmas, our whole family fell in love with her and faced the hardest thing imaginable, saying good-bye as she left to go back to Ukraine. Our lives have not been the same since the day she “flew” into them as a stranger in December 2014. We re-hosted her for the summer from June until August to make sure that she wanted to be adopted by us and this time saying good-bye was still difficult. We now have the hope that she will be coming home soon. She celebrated her 15th birthday while with us in August. (Children age out of orphanages in Ukraine at age 16.) Never did we imagine adding an older child to our family yet all of our children can hardly wait for their older sister to be with us again and this time we won’t have to say good-bye!

We are hard at work on the adoption process and appreciate your prayers and any amount of financial help you can give. Without God and the support of our family and friends, we could not do this. The adoption will cost at least $36,000 which seems unattainable at times but our God is greater than any dollar amount. We have felt His comfort and His promise to provide for our every need since the beginning of this journey. Besides this pure charity fundraising we are having many other fundraisers including garage sales, bake sales, silent auction, and we are not sure of what else yet. Once the home study is complete, we will be applying for grants but we have many expenses before the home study will be finalized. Thank you for partnering with us in this adventure of bringing God’s "pure" gift home to our family.

“Our God is greater; our God is stronger; God, You are Higher than any other” (from Our God by M. Redman, J. Myrin, C. Tomlin, J. Reeves)

"He [God] will love you and bless you and increase your numbers." Deuteronomy 7:13a
