38 days, 4 hotel rooms, 4 changed departure dates, and 5 times the suitcases have been packed and unpacked.  This is the reality of where we are at.  Still in Virginia, our approval is pending to go to California.  So we pray and we prepare.

What does this look like?  We think through what we have and what we need- what we are leaving here and what is staying in use until the last minute.  We pack a little more each day and realize how much stuff in life we don’t even need.  We go through an album of photos of our home to teach Percie that where we are is temporary.  We show her pictures of airplanes, and people on airplanes... Essentially we are rehearsing for our departure. 

As things go with God’s providence my Bible reading today was from Luke 12:35-40.  The heading of this passage is “Watchfulness”.  This story involves “good” servants who really have no clear timeline of their masters arrival but they know that at any hour they could be called upon so they stayed ready.  The “wicked” servants sat around and did whatever their hearts wanted because the master was away.  The master basically comes back and punishes the wicked servants but rewards the good ones.

There are certainly a lot of theological implications from this but since I’m not a theologian, this is my takeaway: We aren’t so much waiting for God to come to us and fulfill the things we are wanting from Him, rather we are working and seeking to be ready for Him and what He wants to do in our life.  The good thing in this is that He is a good master and we know He wants our best.
