This year, we are partnering with One Million Thumbprints, a grassroots peace effort to end violence against women in war zones. We have adopted an...
We are committed to supporting women trapped in war zones, fighting for women's rights regarding female genital mutilation and child marriage, supporting anti-trafficking efforts, and providing support for women who are transitioning out of the sex trade or situations involving domestic abuse. Violence against any woman is violence against all women.
Human trafficking is a term used to describe the illegal movement of people for the purposes of forced labor or sexual exploitation. According to the UN's Office on Drugs and Crime, 79% of trafficking worldwide involves sexual exploitation, and the large majority of these victims are women and children. In some areas of the world, children make up nearly 100% of people trafficked into forced labor. Violence against women contributes to the growing number of trafficking victims in the world today. The numbers related to modern slavery are shocking, and we are committed to seeking justice and healing for victims, pursuing prosecution of perpetrators, and supporting legislation at national and international levels that will end the practice of slavery around the world.
